Preventative Services

Keeping your smile healthy

At Waseca Family Dentistry, we believe prevention is the most important key to oral health. The key part of prevention is to have regular check-ups with your family dentist. This helps us catch any problems there may be such as cavities, cracks in a filling, gum disease, or any unusual growth in the soft tissue of the mouth that must be attended to.

Preventing dental disease starts at home with good oral hygiene and a balanced diet. Then it is continued in the dental office by the cleanings from your dental hygienist and exam by your family dentist. Waseca Family Dentistry promotes, restores and maintains your oral health.

Prevention helps avoid serious dental problems and is the main key to having a healthy, happy, beautiful smile.

Routine Check-Ups

At your scheduled regular check-ups, the hygienist will clean your teeth and discuss how nutrition affects your teeth. The dentist will follow by checking your teeth and gums. Sometimes it is suggested to receive sealants as part of your preventative care routine.

Sealants are a clear plastic coating that forms a barrier to oxygen. Sealants starve the bacteria that cause tooth decay. Usually sealants are applied to the back teeth where grooves typically form and are impossible to keep free from plaque or food particles.
